News October 7, 2009 Progress on the novel has been moving along wonderfully. I am currently over 50% complete. My goal is to have the first draft finished by December 1st. This is good news for those of you that have read my novelette, "A Fool and His Money" and are anxiously awaiting the full novel. My wife is the only one that has read more than the first three chapters and she keeps begging to let her read more. I take that as a good sign since she doesn't like to read. Peace! September 17, 2009 Book promotion has been going well for "A Fool and His Money" and it is now available at Amazon.com. I have recently added an excerpt from later in The Cold Kiss of Steel that I think readers will really enjoy. Progress on "The Cold Kiss of Steel" is going really well. I am currently 40% complete and project I will be finished with the first draft by the end of November. August 30, 2009 I am excited to announce, I have just published a 56 page novelette/prequel to "The Cold Kiss of Steel." It is the first section of the novel and really stands well on its own. I have titled it, "A Fool and His Money." If you would like to learn more about the book or purchase a copy it is available in hardback, trade paperback and electronic download. I will be more than happy to sign any copies for my readers. If you prefer, the book can be purchased directly from me and I will sign it before mailing it out. If you would like to purchase the book directly from me or get more details, Please email me at: michael.gibbons@cox.net. August 30, 2009 I finally have a real blog - not the crappy homemade kind (like those hamburgers your mom used to make you when you were a kid). Check it out!
Hi! My name is Michael Gibbons and I am currently working on my first novel, "The Cold Kiss of Steel." The story is set in the mythical land of Terarata. If I had to pick a genre for the story, I would select Dark Historical Fantasy (though I'm not sure if that is an official genre or not). You might ask, how do you define Dark Historical Fantasy? "Fantasy" because similar to other stories in the genre there is magic (though in a minor role), swordplay, and creatures the Earth has not seen in at least 500 years (if ever). When I say "Historical," I mean the stories are built more on true life as it was in Medieval times and less like in a Piers Anthony novel. "Dark" comes into play because these stories are definitely intended for adults and are every bit as hard edged and foul as the times they are modeled after. Also, I feel there isn't enough sex in Fantasy for the most part. My work isn't porn but with any luck you'll get aroused from time-to-time. |
